Demand for shared workspace has soared in post Covid world

The demand for shared workspaces has soared over the last three years – according to the latest figures.

The Flexible Space Association is hosting its Bristol Roundtable Meeting bringing together industry professionals from the growing flexible space community in Bristol for an afternoon of networking, idea sharing, and collaboration.

According to the organisation there has been a 158 per cent increase in flexible workspaces since 2020.

With a number of flexible workspaces slated for development at Temple Quarter, an Enterprise Zone regeneration programme bringing in close to £100m of government funding, the flexible workspace sector’s involvement in Bristol’s development is a promising signal of growth and innovation.

Savills recently reported on the ‘booming Bristol office market’ sharing that the technology, media and telecom continues to be the most active sector, accounting for 43 per cent of overall take-up.

The professional sector was second, accounting for 22 per cent of take-up.

Commercial Estates Group’s EQ Building in Bristol is billing itself as “the next generation of workspace” and Desklodge has opened a new 18,000 sqft space in the city’s Beacon Tower, its second location within Bristol.

Data from Flexi Offices also suggests that the average deal size seeing a 19.15 per cent increase to date in 2023 compared to 2022 provides a good growth pointer for workspace providers.

Jane Sartin, executive director at the Flexible Space Association, said: “We are witnessing remarkable growth of the flexible workspace community in Bristol, and have welcomed a number of Bristol flexible workspaces as new members of the Flexible Space Association in recent months.

“The city is becoming a thriving hub for professionals seeking innovative work environments and collaborative opportunities. The vibrant atmosphere, coupled with the rich entrepreneurial spirit, makes Bristol an ideal destination for those embracing the future of work.”

Now representing over 1,000 flexible workspaces across the UK, FlexSA remains committed to fostering collaboration, driving innovation, and promoting shared worked spaces.
