Retailer invests £4.5m in new Wiltshire store

National retailer Home Bargains is investing £4.5m in a new store in Wiltshire.

The firm is opening its latest branch in Great Western Way in Swindon.

The investment will see the existing store almost completely demolished and rebuilt from scratch.

The new store will see 110 jobs created in the local community. In total the store will employ 130 people including 20 members of staff and management, who will be transferring from nearby stores.

The firm will also be donating £2,000 to the  Swindon Food Collective, which provides food support to those people that are facing a crisis by collecting, sorting and re-distributing donated non-perishable food items.

A spokesperson from Swindon Food Collective said: “The donation from Home Bargains is very appreciated and will go towards enabling the Swindon Food Collective to meet the ever-increasing demand for food for those people who are facing a crisis at this time.

“With this support, we will rise to this challenge and work positively to help as many people as we can”.

The new 40,042 sq.ft Swindon store will join a network of 575 outlets across the UK.

Yulia Garbatiuk, the new store’s manager, has worked in the business for five years, starting as a team member in the Swindon Barnfield Road store before working her way up through the business at a variety of stores around the area including Barnfield, Swindon, Wantage, Faringdon, Newbury & Oxford.

She said: “We are looking forward to opening one of the biggest Home Bargains units in the company here in Swindon.

“We can’t wait to show the people of Swindon our new store with a Café, Bakery and Garden Centre all at low prices, representing value for money.”
