Historic country inn reopens after major refurbishment

A popular family pub has reopened following a major refurbishment.

The Crown inn at Tolldown, which is managed by Butcombe Pubs & Inns is a stone’s throw from Dyrham Park in South Gloucestershire.

The 16th century pub has been given a complete makeover – lime plastered walls and paintwork have been washed in sage green, teal and blues, accentuating original beams and fireplaces.

The Modern Country-inspired styling continues with period wallpapers, leather banquette seating, upholstered lounge chairs, rugs and statement wall and pendant lighting, creating a variety of cosy and elegant drinking and dining areas to choose from.

The nine bedrooms, edging the courtyard, have been refurbished and remodelled from top to bottom in a contemporary country style.

The addition of a new multifunctional private dining area creates the perfect space for celebrations, get togethers, meetings and community events.  Outside, the beer garden has been updated with a Mediterranean planting scheme, cedar cladding and new furniture.

A spokesperson for Butcombe Pubs & Inns said: “We’re incredibly proud of the new look Crown and we’re delighted to be able to welcome visitors old and new once again.  It’s fresh and modern without losing any of the original, cosy country charm, and we’re sure our guests will enjoy the new look and feel, alongside our fresh new award-winning food and drink offering.”
