Bus company celebrates 30th birthday

Bus company Stagecoach West has been celebrating its 30th anniversary.

On 25th November 1993 bus operator Stagecoach acquired Western Travel – established in 1986 and made up of the Cheltenham and Gloucester Omnibus Company and the National Bus Company’s Swindon and District operation.

Over the past three decades Stagecoach West has grown and increased its networks, acquiring Bristol Depot in 2019 and merging with Stagecoach Oxfordshire in 2021.

Rachel Geliamassi, managing director, Stagecoach West said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our wonderful teams and customers for making Stagecoach West the success it is today.  We play a vital role in thousands of people’s lives every day, taking them to work or school, to appointments or holidays and days out – a role we value and care about.

“So, here’s to the next 30 years and all the exciting challenges ahead – a time of change with the introduction of more electric vehicles to our fleet, adopting new technologies and continuing to put our customers at the heart of everything we do.  Happy 30th Birthday Stagecoach West!”

To mark this milestone birthday, on Friday 24th November the company laid on celebrations for staff across the region and celebrated with quizzes, a small gift, cupcakes at each depot and a huge 30th birthday cake at Cheltenham and Gloucester offices for all staff to enjoy…

On Saturday 25th November, representatives of Stagecoach West were out and about at key locations in Cheltenham and Gloucester handing out celebration cupcakes and tea and coffee to customers and inviting them to join in with an interactive quiz for the opportunity to win a voucher for a free West Gold DayRider ticket.
