A COVENTRY travel firm has invested in the future of its business – and the future of the planet.
Harry Shaw City Cruiser, which operates holidays, short breaks and day trips across the UK and Continental Europe, has bought three new coaches which adhere to the highest of environmental standards.
They are made by BOVA and are powered by the latest DAF engines – built to Euro 5 specifications, which means they offer lower emissions and better fuel economy compared to other vehicles in their class.
The coaches will be used mainly for the firmn’s UK and European tours but will also be available for private hire.
Director Robert Shaw said the company had seen an upturn in business and needed to invest in the future.
He said: “There was a time when holidaymakers were perhaps moving away from coach travel – they thought it cheaper or easier to organise holidays themselves or, in the case of day trips, take the car.
“But rising fuel costs and a rise in the price of do-it-yourself holidays has seen many customers returning it’s proving cheaper and more convenient to take a day trip or a holiday with us.
“It’s vitally important for any business to invest and that goes for us too. We want to have the greenest, most fuel efficient fleet as possible and with modern coaches, it is a greener form of travel by the mile than most other modes of transport.”
