Apprenticeship firm pushes ahead after new investment
A Coventry apprenticeship company has secured major funding to push ahead with an ambitious vision for the future.
Primary Goal, which has been supported by the University of Warwick Science Park’s Business Ready programme, plans to roll-out its service model nationwide.
A total of £250,000 has been invested in the firm, which was set up in 2015 with the aim of supporting teachers and children to grow their digital skills and integrate computer science within the wider curriculum.
Investor Tim Hughes, of Complete Networks, said: “There is such huge potential with Primary Goal and I had to be part of it. There has been months of work behind the scenes to make sure that everything went ahead with the investment, but we can now progress and look to the future.”
Based at the University of Warwick Science Park’s Business Innovation Centre in Binley, the firm is the brainchild of Louise Campton. It has succeeded in creating 20 jobs during the last two years especially for young people looking to develop careers in the technology sector.
The company has created a portal which it is now looking to franchise around the country.
It has also secured a link enabling youngsters to correspond with qualified pilots so they can channel their Science, Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing (STEM) skills.
The firm has worked with the University of Warwick Science Park and its Business Ready programme, securing guidance from advisor Alex Toft.
Ms Campton said: “It has been a very busy time and I’m not sure that Primary Goal would have been here without all the support I have had, especially from Business Ready and Alex.
“Having that kind of support helped me to focus and keep me on track and I am delighted with how far the business has come.”
Mr Toft said: “Louise has been one of our many success stories and I am so pleased to see where Primary Goal has got to. She has put her heart and soul into the company, so to get the investment that she wanted is fantastic news.”
