New Middle East contract win for HME

A WORCESTERSHIRE manufacturer of education products has won a contract to work on a new school project in Abu Dhabi.
Bromsgrove-based HME Technology has been awarded a £230,000 order from ALDAR Properties, the second deal for HME from the company.
HME Technology was founded in 1984 and supplies and installs design and technology and science equipment for schools.
The latest order is for the 1,300-pupil Al Bateen Secondary School which will provide education for English-speaking students from the ages of 11 to 18.
The new building will have an 850-seat auditorium, music and art facilities, research lab and sports facilities.
The contract took HME Technology a year to gain and is expected to run through to 2013.
Al Bateen is being built by Wates Construction International and joint venture partner Al Fara’a and on completion will be run by ALDAR Academies.
Together with Al Yasmina, The Pearl and Al Muna schools, it is part of the ALDAR Academies group, a subsidiary of ALDAR Properties.
HME Technology previously supplied a design technology department for Al Yasmina and ALDAR Academies has plans to build and operate up to 20 new schools in Abu Dhabi.
HME managing director Julian Davis said: “The Middle East is becoming increasingly important to our business.
“Huge growth is going on there and we have been looking to be part of it for quite a while.
“We have a strong relationship with ALDAR Academies and hopefully that will bear further fruit.”
