GrowthAccelerator to help Birmingham businesses

AN event which is intended to help hundreds of Birmingham businesses grow and achieve their potential – as well as create high value jobs – rolls into town next month.

GrowthAccelerator, launched by secretary of state for business Vince Cable earlier this year, is a new service that will help England’s brightest growing businesses achieve their ambitions with rapid, sustainable growth. It’s a partnership between private enterprise and government.

It arrives in Birmingham on Tuesday October 16.

GrowthAccelerator’s network of world-class growth experts will work side by side with leaders of high-growth potential businesses to provide them with the know-how and ability to achieve sustainable growth. The service will help discover the real issues that could be holding businesses back, define the right growth plan and open doors to world class business experts and networks.

Businesses in Birmingham which believe they have potential for rapid growth will have the opportunity to see what GrowthAccelerator is all about at the special event in the Jaguar Suite at Edgbaston cricket ground.

The event will be hosted by experienced writer, broadcaster and journalist, Michael Taylor, the founder of Think More and chairman of Downtown Manchester.

The launch event will also provide an opportunity to hear guest speaker Ellis Watson talk about his personal experiences as chief executive of DC Thomson, one of the world’s largest family-owned media groups, and as former head of Syco Entertainment, the joint venture between Simon Cowell and Sony, where he ran the global format and commercial strategies for X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

The event will run from 4.00pm to 7.00pm and will also feature a local panel of business experts who will be able to provide advice on the evening to entrepreneurial businesses in Birmingham.

Watson said: “The most important asset any entrepreneur needs to have is honest people around them. That can be in the form of genius consultants, or their mum; entrepreneurs normally have an optimistic enthusiasm for growth, but unless this is tempered by realism and people around them to “keep it real” – it just becomes misguided enthusiasm.”

Registration for the event is now open and can be found here
