Growth is child’s play for nursery after funding support

A WARWICKSHIRE nursery has used a new funding package to expand its services by building a new care facility, creating four new jobs.

Greenfields Nursery School, based in Shipston-on-Stour, opened in 1995 and provides care for 130 children up to the age of five. The nursery also runs a drop-off and pick-up service for children who attend nearby Shipston Primary School, providing care for children before and after school hours.

Having experienced increased demand to provide facilities to care for younger children under the age of two, joint-owners Lesley Tavener and Pam McGuiness approached Lloyds TSB Commercial for the funding support to the expansion.

The loan has allowed the business to build a new 50m² building for the care of children aged nine months to two years. The four new members of staff work with the younger children.

Ms Tavener said: “After expanding into before and after school care we soon realised that there were also families in the area that needed support with the care of their younger children. With the funding support from Lloyds TSB Commercial we have been able to build a stand-alone cabin which is dedicated to providing this service.

“The guidance and support we have received has enabled us to successfully open our new baby room and continue to provide the best care possible.”

Elaine Colwell, relationship manager at Lloyds TSB Commercial, said: “Greenfields Nursery School provides quality care and we are pleased to support them in their expansion, helping a greater number of children in the area. The outstanding Ofsted report the nursery received last year is testament to the hard work of Lesley and the team, helping many children in the area learn in a stimulating environment.

“Changes in family lifestyles have made nursery schools a vital service to parents who need support while working, and it is great to know that Greenfields is helping so many parents in the area with its new facilities.”
