Last chance to sign up for key auto enrolment event

THERE are only days to go before our important auto enrolment pensions seminar in Bromsgrove.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are being invited to listen to and get involved in a discussion on this crucial issue.
Barclays has joined forces with TheBusinessDesk.com and a panel of experts has been assembled to discuss legislation that will affect all businesses, large and small.
The breakfast time event is being staged at the Hilton Birmingham Bromsgrove hotel next Tuesday (March 12).
Andy Coyne, editor of TheBusinessDesk.com, said: “I would urge SMEs to take time out from their busy schedules to come along and listen to what the experts have got to say.
“Because this legislation is being phased in, there might be a tendency amongst SMEs to think that it is not something they have to concern themselves with yet.
“But this legislation will affect every business in the land and – as we have seen with other changes in business law – those firms that have prepared for that change will find it affects their business the least.
“Millions of people will be paying into a pension scheme for the first time but the scheme also requires all employers to enroll their workers into a qualifying workplace scheme if they are not already in one.
“This has major implications for SMEs – implications that will be discussed in detail at next week’s event.”
In this panel discussion Barclays and TheBusinessDesk.com are bringing together experts in the pensions field to discuss, in front of a business audience, the likely impact of the legislation on Midlands businesses.
The panelists are Emma Skedgel, vice president, corporate and employer solutions at Barclays, Richard Lee, partner and head of the combined HR solutions team at law firm Wragge & Co, Gary Hull, executive director at accountancy firm Ernst & Young and John Rider, regional chairman of the Institute of Directors.
Coyne added: “This panel discussion is a must-attend event for business owners and managers who want to understand how auto enrolment will work in practice and how it will affect them.”
The seminar – which is at 7.30am for an 8.15am start – is free but places are limited. Please email Jonathan Henney at jonathan.henney@thebusinessdesk.com if you would like to attend.
