Skip firm moves and expands following Santander funding

COVENTRY waste management business Budget Skip Services is set to hire new staff to cater for strong business demand following £550,000 funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial.

The firm has also purchased new premises on Bayton Road Industrial Estate. The move into larger premises will allow the business to process up to 25% more waste, which in turn will provide more local jobs.

Budget Skip Services was started by Kevin Kennell 20 years ago. Its corporate clients include Veolia, Severn Trent, Tesco, Asda and McDonalds.

The firm has diversified its revenue base, helping the business generate year-on-year revenue growth. Growing demand for recycled plastics, wood and polyurethane has seen the firm provide a dedicated ‘sort and sell’ service.

Budget Skip Services also provides further services through sub-contracting works to local companies, including the supply of aggregates and the collection of white goods.

Kennell said: “Our business is expanding and has seen strong growth year on year. The new premise in the Bayton Road Industrial Estate is perfect for our business and will provide us with the extra space we need for further growth.”

Richard West, relationship director for Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: “The Kennell family’s drive and commitment to this great business has resulted in Budget Skip Services becoming a true local success story.

“I am delighted that we have been able to support this fantastic business and I am convinced that it will continue to grow and remain a high-profile stakeholder in the local community.”
