Best of British as industry gathers for two award ceremonies

THE real estate and regeneration industries will come together in the capital next week for two annual award ceremonies.

The British Council for Offices is hosting its National Awards Dinner on Tuesday, which will pit the best office projects from five regions against each other to be crowned UK champion.

In addition, monthly journal Brownfield Briefing is holding the sixth Remediation Innovation Awards to celebrate the finest preparation work for brownfield land regeneration, also on Tuesday.

The BCO winners for the Midlands and East Anglia were announced in May and four of the category champions came from Birmingham projects.

Among those picking up gongs were Brindleyplace, Birmingham City Council’s Lifford House and Two Colmore Square.

Prizes will be awarded across six categories: corporate workplace, commercial workplace, fit-out of workplace, refurbished/recycled workplace, projects up to 2,000m² and innovation.

The awards take place at Grosvenor House, in Park Lane, and comedienne and actress Ronni Ancona is the guest host.

The Remediation Innovation Awards will celebrate the best brownfield projects across 10 categories: single remediation technique, combination of techniques, conceptual design, innovation method, project closure, sustainable project, stakeholder engagement, young professional, low carbon technique and reuse of materials.

The organisers are not releasing a shortlist of nominated projects ahead of the ceremony which takes place at the Grange City Hotel, in Tower Hill.
