Worcestershire LEP urges businesses looking to relocate to invest in the county

BUSINESS organisations in Worcestershire are targeting investors, developers and employers interested in relocating to the county.
Various stakeholders from across Worcestershire will be marketing the county’s advantages to new business when they stage a ‘World Class Worcestershire’ event at the Thistle Hotel, Marble Arch in London on Monday (November 24).
Worcestershire County Council, Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership and Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce are amongst the organisations taking part.
Citing the example of leading brands such as Worcester Bosch, Brintons, AMTEK and Yamazaki Mazak, Halfords, GKN, Harris Bush and Morgan Motor Cars, representatives of the various organisations will be highlighting some of the advantages to doing business in the county.
The LEP said currently, there were four ‘Game Changer’ employment sites available that offered unique opportunities to new business. All four have the capacity to deliver growth and have an estimated £250m of GVA, with the potential to create and sustain 10,000 jobs.
The four sites, which cover 635,500m², comprise:
Worcester Growth Corridor – this proposes to develop an area to the eastern fringe of the city, including Worcester Technology Park to create an attractive commercial gateway. Up to 60 ha of land to the east of the M5 (adjacent to Junction 6) is available, offering initially up to 140,000m² with potential for up to 250,000m² of accommodation, developed over a 15 + year period.
Redditch Eastern Gateway – this development which will create a high quality business park has circa 40 ha of land with potential development of 100,500m² of accommodation, developed over a 10 year period.
Malvern Hills Technology Park – this is to facilitate development of a new business park environment to complement and accommodate further phases of the existing Malvern Science Park including support of existing investors through the provision of ‘grow on’ accommodation. The park has a potential development of 210,000m² of accommodation, developed over a 10 year period.
South Kidderminster Enterprise Park – this is to support the on-going development of an existing employment scheme in attracting new investment in this location. In total, it comprises 75,000m² of commercial development and 300 additional houses, a care home, a hotel, shops, restaurants, footpaths and cycle ways.
Cllr Adrian Hardman, leader of Worcestershire County Council said: “The event is a great opportunity to meet key decision makers from across the county. Worcestershire is a world class business location with access to regional and international markets and 10 universities within an hour’s drive of the county ensuring a dynamic and skilled workforce.”
Gary Woodman, Executive Director at Worcestershire LEP, added: “Many international businesses have chosen Worcestershire as their business base recognising that the county is a fantastic place to grow and expand and has access to new and existing markets. I would urge those interested in the many opportunities available to secure a place at the ‘World Class Worcestershire’ event and find out more.”
Places at the event are available at either 11am or 4pm but are limited. Further details are available by visiting http://www.investinworcestershire.com/register/
