Wolverhampton Art Gallery keen to support city’s business community

THE worlds of business and the arts collide at a special event in Wolverhampton tonight.

The city’s art gallery is staging the event as part of Wolverhampton Business Week.

The ‘Arts & Business Reception – Investing in the City’ event will give businesses the chance to explore how the art gallery can work with businesses in a mutually supportive way.
 
The Lichfield Street art gallery offers a range of spaces for hire individually and as part of corporate sponsorship packages, and is also developing a loans-to-business scheme from its art collections.
 
There will be a business reception between 5pm and 6pm, and delegates will get the chance to see behind the scenes in the gallery’s basement stores, as well as attend the preview of the autumn exhibition programme from 6pm to 8pm.
 
This will include the official unveiling of the Barbara Hepworth ‘Rock Form’ sculpture, with Barbara’s granddaughter and Trustee of the Hepworth Estate, Dr Sophie Bowness, and member of one of Wolverhampton’s most notable business families, Sir Nicholas Mander, as the guests of honour.
 
Delegates will also be treated to a music performance to coincide with the Hiroshige exhibition and curator Neus Miro will conduct a tour of the new exhibition ‘This is Not a Joke’.
 
Cllr John Reynolds, Wolverhampton’s cabinet member for the City Economy, said: “This is an opportunity for businesses to see the fantastic facilities the gallery can provide as a backdrop to business events.
 
“We are delighted business people from around the city are coming to take a look at exactly what is on offer, while at the same time enjoying some eye-catching exhibits by nationally-renown artists.”
