A NEW bar and restaurant is set to create 60 new jobs in Birmingham when it opens in September.

The Alchemist, part of the Living Ventures group, forms an important part of the redevelopment of the Grand Hotel in Colmore Row.

The recruitment process for the new staff is now under way, with the new recruits being promised the National Living Wage and full training ahead of launch.

Simon Potts, managing director of The Alchemist, said: “Ensuring that we recruit passionate team members is an extremely important part of our business.”

“We thrive on giving our customers a great experience and our team members play an integral part in helping our brand to deliver this. Being in the Midlands right now is extremely exciting, and I’m glad that we can be a part of the regeneration process.”

The brand, which is distinguished by its stylish interiors, already has five venues across the UK, including two in Manchester, two in Leeds, one in London, with a sixth due to open in Liverpool in August.

“Birmingham has been on our radar for a while now and we have been waiting for the perfect venue,” added Mr Potts.

“We are excited to be bringing our dynamic and theatrical offering to this district of the city centre.”
