Former Aston Villa exec joins stockbroker board

THE former deputy chief executive of Aston Villa FC has been appointed to the board of stockbroker Arden Partners.

Mark Ansell is a chartered accountant who was also finance director of the Premier League club as well as interim chief executive of Marketing Birmingham.

He also has significant experience as a business consultant and director involved in strategic and corporate finance advice along with management and leadership roles.

The 58-year-old was also previously a senior partner and partner in charge of corporate finance of Deloitte in Birmingham and the Midlands.

At Arden, he will assume the role as chairman of the Audit Committee.
Also joining Arden’s board is Peter Moon who has been involved in institutional investment for many years.

Last year, the 61-year-old retired from the Universities Superannuation Scheme where he was chief investment officer running a fund of some £27.5bn.

Mr Moon has also previously worked for British Airways Pensions, National Provident and Slater Walker Investment Management and has advised several councils including Lincolnshire and Middlesbrough.

Both Mr Ansell and Mr Moon have joined Arden’s board as independent non-executive directors, with effect from December 31 and subject to FSA Regulatory approval.

Arden Partners has also announced today that its chief operating officer Steve Wassell is now an executive director with immediate effect.

It also said that Tony Bartlett, who has been involved with the company since soon after its inception in 2002, would retire at the end of the year.

Mr Bartlett has performed a number of roles including chief executive officer, chairman of corporate finance and has been a non-executive director since 2008.
