Richard Boot made OBE in New Year’s Honours List

HIGH profile West Midlands business figure Richard Boot has been awarded an OBE in the New Year’s Honours List.

Mr Boot, who stepped down as regional chairman of the Institute of Directors earlier this year, was made an OBE for services to the business community in the West Midlands.

He is on the board of Birmingham social media specialist Gas Street Works, and is chairman and founding director of Active Human Capital, the senior management recruitment specialist.

Other notable recipients of awards include Roger Carr, the boss of Birmingham-based confectionary giant Cadbury during its controversial takeover by American firm Kraft.

My Carr, who is also chairman of Centrica and CBI president-elect, has been knighted for services to industry.

The out-going director general of the CBI Richard Lambert has also been knighted while David Frost, director general of the British Chambers of Commerce, has been awarded an CBE for services to business.

George Bolsover, chairman of Redditch-based Aggregate Industries, has been made a CBE for services to the construction industry.

Amanda Gray, director of green energy company Eccleshall Biomass in Staffordshire, has been awarded a MBE for services to the bioenergy industry.
