Raft of promotions at CB Richard Ellis
THE Birmingham office of property consultancy CB Richard Ellis has made nine promotions including a new executive director. Mike Stephens and Mike Sutton, who work in the valuation and building consultancy teams respectively, have been promoted to senior director, while Dave Smith has stepped up from regional financial controller to director. In the property asset management team, Ann Pedrick-Moyle and Tansy Brooke have been promoted to associate director and senior surveyor respectively. Other senior surveyor promotions include Andy Harris in building consultancy, Ned Mutter in the global corporate solutions team and valuation consultants Phil Bartleet and Indi Sidhu. Birmingham managing director Martin Guest has been promoted to executive director after being MD since 2005.
Mr Guest, who has worked for the firm for 13 years, said: “In what is still a challenging climate for the property sector, it is important to retain the best people. All of the promotions represent excellent individual achievement and are a reflection of the significant commitment to the business each person has made.”
International summer school returns to Birmingham
THE International Urban Design Summer School will be held for the second consecutive year in Birmingham. MADE (Midlands Architecture and Designed Environment) will run the event from June 19 to 22 and it is expected to attract delegates from around the world. Last year’s summer school was run on behalf of the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment but, as CABE has lost its Government funding and is being wound up, MADE will now take on full responsibility for managing the international design event. The school will include four days of learning on how to create high-quality sustainable places, a live urban design project, workshops and presentations. It takes place at various locations across the city.
Bus station revamp takes latest step
PREPARATORY works are set to begin on creating a new waiting area for buses to use in Wolverhampton as part of the city’s multi-million bus station redevelopment. The layover facility is being built on an area of Broad Street car park in the city centre, near the new bus station in Pipers Row. The facility will have space for six buses at a time to park up and will help drivers meet their service schedules by providing them with a layover space. Contractor on the project is BAM.
