Zissman to head up Rewired

Birmingham-based Rewired PR has appointed Sir Bernard Zissman as chairman on the eve of the agency’s third birthday. Managing director Ruth Pipkin said: “I met Sir Bernard at Birmingham University 11 years ago where, as a history undergraduate, I worked as a researcher on his first book. We have stayed in touch ever since and Sir Bernard’s extensive experience within both the public and private sectors has been a huge support and inspiration. By combining Sir Bernard’s considerable business expertise with the innovation and ambition of the team I’m confident that we will continue to develop apace and offer an unrivalled service to our clients.” A former Lord Mayor of Sir Bernard has enjoyed a busy political and business career. He led the team which developed the International Convention Centre and Symphony Hall, and was instrumental in the development of Millennium Point.  The appointment will also see Rewired take on Sir Bernard’s presentation and training consultancy, Confident Communications.

Tech firm chooses Reeves PR

Quick Response content platform provider QRky has appointed Clive Reeves Public Relations to provide a B2B campaign to support its diversification into a range of new services and sectors. Founded by Nicolas Holzherr, winner of the entrepreneurial category at Birmingham Young Professional of the Year 2011, QRky began life as a tech start-up offering QR-enabled business cards which allow full contact details to be saved immediately to any smart phone. David Kuczora, account manager at Clive Reeves Public Relations, said: “We were one of the early adopters of QRky’s platform for our own business cards, and have seen Nicolas move his firm from incubation through to a full-fledged and innovative Quick Response platform. QR codes have been around for a while now, and it has become clear that their success depends on taking users through to content which is compelling, useful and, critically, optimised for the device it is being viewed on.” Mr Holzherr said: “In the last year we’ve made exciting progress, with our client base expanding from regional entrepreneurs and SMEs to national blue-chips. We’ve even recruited clients from abroad, such as an architectural practice in Belgium and a news agency in the USA.”
