Staffordshire laser cutter embarks on UK rollout

STAFFORDSHIRE-based laser cutting contractor SSC Laser is expanding nationwide by opening three new service centres across England.

SSC has opened new operations in Sunderland, Castle Donnington, near Derby, and at its HQ and manufacturing base in Stafford.

It plans to develop these new sales offices into stand-alone manufacturing sites over time.

In addition, SSC has invested in a new £800,000 cutting machine at its HQ – the biggest single investment the company has made.

The company was founded in 2000 and is co-owned by sales director Andy Evans and managing director Austin Jarrett, employing 36 people with estimated turnover of more than £4m for 2011.

Mr Evans said: “Our industry is quite parochial and you tend to find buyers like to use suppliers that are in their areas so our vision is to develop a nationwide network of SSC centres to give customers a local service.

“I shall be extremely disappointed if 10 years from now we don’t have at least 20 of these centres dotted around the country.”
