Steel wheel manufacturer receives US boost

A SUBSIDIARY of Midlands based steel wheel manufacturer Titan Europe has formed a new company to exploit opportunities within the US mining sector.
Titan operates Mining Service Centres in various locations, including Australia and South America – these provide wheel and track service facilities to its Mining companies. Titan Europe’s trading subsidiary, Titan ITM, is one of the world’s largest suppliers of undercarriage, track assemblies and components for all industry sectors including Mining.
The American group Titan International Inc (TWI), a 21.8% shareholder in Titan Europe, has now formed new company, Titan Mining Services which will offer complete tyre, wheel and track services for end-users.
The move is a boost to Kidderminster based Titan Europe as it will be supporting the new operation by providing design manufacturing and technical services. This will include product design and supply; employee training and the supply of service equipment in Alberta and, wherever practical, in other locations.
Mike Akers, chief executive, Titan Europe said: “The creation of Titan Mining Services brings another opportunity for close co-operation between the two global businesses; we are both strongly in favour of the development of a world-wide network of Service Centres.
“We look forward to contributing to the development of this new venture which will enhance our customer service offering in the future.”
Titan Europe’s current co-operation with Titan International Inc includes marketing tyres produced by TWI’s subsidiary, Titan Tire, through Titan Europe’s UK Distribution and Australian subsidiaries.
