Travellers warned of disruption at Birmingham Airport

Birmingham Airport has warned travellers of potential disruption to their journeys due to development works taking place outside its terminal.

The airport is currently improving its passenger drop-off facilities and the site’s management has said travellers may need to adjust their travel plans to allow more time to complete the check-in process.

In a statement, the airport said: “We would like to make (passengers) aware of development works to improve our passenger drop off facilities, which may require you to leave more time for your journey to the airport.

“On completion, the improvements will provide a Premium Drop & Go facility adjacent to the terminal and a 30-minute free passenger drop off car park located just five minutes from the terminal by foot and served by a regular complementary bus service.”

One of the main criticisms of the facility in recent years has been the drop-off area outside the terminal and the charges associated with using it.

The airport said that together with parking group NCP, it was investing in an improvement scheme.

While the works are carried out it warned that drivers using the airport may experience congestion on its feeder roads.
“We therefore recommend leaving a little more time for your journey to the airport to avoid delays,” it added.

“Traffic management measures are in place and roads are being closely monitored, with additional resource in place during peak periods.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and wish you a pleasant journey from Birmingham Airport.”
