Technology firm tries hard to reward rugby fans

Saracens

A Staffordshire technology company which provides an online rewards platform for sports fans has signed a new deal with Premiership rugby club Saracens.

Rewards4, based in Burton-upon-Trent, has been trialling its Rewards4Rugby platform with the club for a short period.

Rewards4Rugby is an online rewards platform that rugby fans can join via their club. They collect loyalty points from their everyday spending with more than 4,300 online retailers and in-store with over 30 high street brands.

The platform is free to join for both club and fan, as the programme points are funded by the retail partners who participate on the Rewards4 platform.

As the first rugby club to have signed up, Saracens’ season ticket holders will also receive Rewards4Rugby points on purchases of ‘early bird’ season tickets, tickets for matches staged at Allianz Park and Wembley, as well as on purchases of Saracens’ club shirts and other merchandise.

The Rewards4 programme integrates directly with Saracens’ ticketing system to ensure that points are seamlessly added to each fan’s account, once they have signed up as a member.

The club’s supporters can use their points to pay in full or in part for their match day tickets, memberships and Saracens’ merchandise – both online and in the Saracens Super Store.

The move into rugby follows the success of the Rewards4Racing programme, developed in partnership with The Jockey Club.

The programme has secured more than one million members and in 2016, helped racegoers save money on over £6.15m worth of ticket sales with the programme’s racecourse partners.

Andy Duckworth, chief commercial and marketing officer at Saracens, said: “We know the importance of loyalty in sport. As the first rugby club to join the Rewards4Rugby programme, we are delighted to be pioneering the platform in rugby and believe this will be a great benefit for all Saracens’ fans.”

Ian Lancaster, director and co-founder of Rewards4, said: “The launch into rugby with such a prestigious club as Saracens marks a milestone for our business.”
