Law firm targets £12m turnover after moving to new headquarters

One of the Black Country’s largest law firms has strengthened its presence in the region by relocating its headquarters to larger premises.
Talbots, which has been in business for more than 189 years, has moved from its former office in the centre of Stourbridge to new facilities in nearby Hagley Road.
The relocation is an important milestone in the firm’s ambitious expansion plans, which aim to see the business grow by 20% in 2017.
The firm, which now employs over 200 legal specialists and support staff, has made the move to improve meeting facilities for clients and to generate the additional space it will need for growth.
It has invested £750,000 on the purchase and refurbishment of the building, which is just a few hundred yards from the town centre.
Mary Mocklow, chief executive of Talbots, said: “Stourbridge has always been our historical home and we’ve got a strong client base in the town and surrounding areas…we just needed more space and a location that we could develop in order to deliver an even better service to our clients.
“It took six months to renovate the property so that we created the right working environment for our staff and to create additional meeting rooms to cope with the increase in work we are securing.
“Sixty staff will work out of this office and this includes specialists from our family, residential property, trusts & estates, litigation, corporate and commercial property teams.”
She said the new office would play a crucial role in the company’s target of achieving turnover of £12m this year, aided by a specific focus on building its presence in the residential and commercial property, family law, commercial and trusts and estates sectors.
To this extent, the firm has recently appointed three high profile lawyers in Ian Bond (Head of Trusts and Estates), Jagdip Bains (Head of Litigation and Commercial Dispute) and Claire Cooper (Associate Solicitor Commercial Property).
Talbots has seven offices in the area, consisting of Codsall, Dudley, Halesowen, Kidderminster, Stourbridge, Stourport and on Waterloo Road in Wolverhampton.
