Traffic Alert: Two lanes closed on M6 south after accident

Recovery of the accident is now complete and all lanes have been reopened. The congestion is starting to ease but Highways England has said it will be a while yet before the backlog clears.

Motorists are facing long delays on the M6 southbound between Junctions 11 (Cannock) and 10a (the connection with the M54) following an accident that has closed two lanes.

Delays are already estimated at 30 minutes and are likely to get longer as recovery work continues.

Highways England has said it does not expect normal traffic conditions to return until around 4.30pm.

Drivers have been advised to avoid the area or consider using the M6 Toll as an alternative route.
