Community club to relocate to £1.5m facility as work starts on residential scheme

A £1.5m purpose built community facility is being built as part of a residential scheme in Tiddington near Stratford-upon-Avon which will create 32 homes.

Property and construction consultancy Wakemans is acting as quantity surveyor, employer’s agent and construction design management co-ordinator on behalf of Hayfield Homes, which is building Hayfield Chase, a mix of one to four bedroom homes on four acres of a 12-acre site on the north east edge of the village.

The remainder of the land will be retained by the Home Guard Club, a community organisation which currently occupies the site and leases its facilities to a variety of local sports and social clubs.

As part of the residential development, Hayfield Homes will relocate the Home Guard Club from its Main Street site to a new complex.

A Scout and Brownie hut and a sports pavilion, incorporating upgraded changing rooms, café kiosk, bar and function rooms, are among the new facilities that will be provided. The grounds will also be redeveloped and re-seeded to provide improved football playing fields, a rugby training ground and a cycle track.

Wakemans director James Shelley said: “This is an important development for the people of Tiddington, since it will provide much-needed housing for everyone from first time buyers to growing families. At the same time, Hayfield Homes is helping to secure the long-term future of the Home Guard Club and provide quality sports facilities for the local community.”

Mark Booth, managing director of Hayfield Homes, said: “Hayfield Chase represents an exciting milestone for Hayfield Homes and we are delighted to start work on site. Each home has been designed to fit in with the local style of the area and will feature a high specification throughout.”

Contractor Greswold Construction is underway with the residential part of the scheme and work on the new Home Guard Club centre, Scout hut and sports facilities is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
