Developers cleared to build new industrial unit next to M6 Toll

How the Kingswood Lakeside unit could look

Developers have secured planning permission for a new speculative industrial unit along the M6 Toll corridor.

Trebor Developments and funding partner, Kay Properties (Midlands) have been given consent to build the 102,000 sq ft Rapida unit at Kingswood Lakeside.

The site overlooks the toll motorway to a main toll station and route’s service area at Norton Canes. The nearby Junction 7 at Churchbridge offers easy access to the lakeside site.

The building is being marketed for manufacturing or logistics uses and could be available for occupation in 2018.

Bob Tattrie, managing partner for Trebor Development, said: “The new development will provide quality, industrial, premises in an area with excellent motorway access.

“Over 700,000 sq ft of larger, industrial, premises are currently being developed in the immediate location.  Our building, at 102,000 sq ft, will be the smallest of these, but we believe responds to occupiers needs for accommodation of that size.  It can be available for occupation in 2018.”

Staffordshire County Council’s economic growth leader, Cllr Mark Winnington said: “Kingswood Lakeside is one of our flagship business parks with major companies operating there.  There has been a lot of activity and new development on site recently and the Trebor unit will be another welcome addition.

“We have worked with Trebor at another of our sites at Redhill in Stafford and look forward to seeing this development in Cannock completed and ready for business as soon as possible.  This is further demonstration of investor confidence in Staffordshire.”

Trebor Developments and Kay Properties are represented by joint agents JLL and Knight Frank, through their Birmingham offices.
