Major city centre route to shut for a year for next stage of Metro extension works

Birmingham’s Paradise Circus is to close for almost a year for work to be carried out on the next stage of the Westside Metro extension.

It will shut in both directions from September until the summer of 2019.

The area, between Chamberlain Square, next to the town hall and Centenary Square, will be closed in order for the Metro to be extended from Victoria Square to Centenary Square.

The A38 Queensway underpass, which runs beneath Paradise, will remain open in both directions for the works, which start on September 3.
