Protein research specialist creates jobs with relocation

A company specialising in the scientific analysis of proteins has expanded into Redditch, a move which will create jobs.

Alta Bioscience, originally based at Birmingham University, has moved seven staff into premises at 37 Manorside, off Walkers Road, and is now recruiting for two new positions.

Alta Bioscience tests a variety of peptide and protein products, foods and dietary supplements for the pharmaceuticals, biotech and food industry and also specialises in custom peptide and DNA syntheses.

The company is renting its 3,821 sq ft premises for £25,000 a year on a five-year lease from landlord Paloma Capital.

Marion Peak, managing director at Alta Bioscience, said: “We needed a more modern facility with room for expansion and are really pleased with our new space in Redditch.

“It’s a great location for commuting because of the nearby motorway network, and yet is also a pleasant green space with a good working environment.”

The property deal was sealed by chartered surveyors John Truslove.

Ian Parker, a director at John Truslove, said: “Alta Bioscience is a fascinating company that had outgrown its original premises and was looking for a new location.

“We were really pleased to help the company find the premises it needed to accommodate its important and growing scientific work.”
