The corporate team at the Manchester office of Mills & Reeve has advised the UK’s biggest seller of new items on eBay on its sale to Dee Set Logistics, which is based in Stoke-on-Trent.

White Hinge, which operates out of Bromborough, Wirral, was established in 2008 and currently delivers more than 20,000 online orders each week, predominately through eBay and Amazon.

Its products include hardware, car accessories, homeware, stationary and cosmetics.

The company has been acquired, for an undisclosed sum, by Dee Set Logistics which has a turnover of £125m and employs 3,500 people.

Dee Set Logistics said the acquisition is designed to boost growth and drive productivity.

Following the sale, White Hinge founders Steven and Jacqueline Hinge will retire from the business.

General manager, Barbara Boyle, will continue running the company.

Corporate partner Chris Ross led the team at Mills & Reeve who advised the shareholders of White Hinge.

BCMS, led by lead advisor IIan Elfassy, provided corporate finance advice.

Steven Hinge said: “While we are sad to be leaving after 10 years of growing our business and building a superb team, it’s reassuring to know that White Hinge is starting a new chapter in such safe hands.”

Chris Ross said: “There are great synergies between the two companies and the transaction provides an excellent platform for the newly enlarged company to achieve its ambitious growth plans.”

Dee Set sales director Simon Machin added: “White Hinge runs an incredibly lean, efficient operation, and we are delighted to welcome our new colleagues to the Dee Set family.

“The acquisition is a great fit, and the combination of our two businesses will create many opportunities for us to scale up and stay ahead in a highly fragmented and fiercely competitive sector.”
