Developer to build luxury retirement homes for £21.6m scheme

Seddon, which has offices in Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent, is building 164 properties Great Alne Park, Warwickshire.

The latest phase, which is now underway, will deliver 88 luxury homes for over-65s as part of a £21.6m scheme for Inspired Villages, which has regional headquarters in Birmingham.

The first phase of the project, comprising a mixture of luxury cottages and apartments, was successfully completed in June 2018.

Situated on 78 acres of parkland on the outskirts of the Warwickshire village of Great Alne, the estate is within easy reach of Warwick, Leamington Spa and Henley-in-Arden,

Construction has now begun on 44 three-bedroom cottages and 44 two-bedroom lateral apartments across a pair of three-storey blocks located on landscaped grounds.

Seddon is also creating a meadow, and Great Alne Park already boasts a range of impressive facilities, which include a swimming pool and cinema.

Ed Wootton, regional director at Seddon, said: “According to latest figures, the Warwickshire population aged 65 years or over is expected to increase by almost half by 2039, so building more high quality, futureproofed housing for an ageing population is vital.

“It’s a privilege to work with Inspired Villages to bring this state-of-the-art retirement community at Great Alne Park to fruition. As we move onto the next phase of construction work, we’re looking forward to seeing the finished scheme take full shape.”

Seddon is engaging with a local and national supply chain to complete the high-quality properties by Q4 2020.

The project team includes architects, Barton Willmore, and structural and civil engineers, CWA Engineering.
