Former art school to be turned into £3m luxury apartment scheme

Developers Key Land Developments and Urban Village have joined forces in a joint venture to transform The Old Art School, Lichfield Road, Sutton Coldfield, into 12 high-specification of one and two-bedroom homes.

The Old Art School is a Georgian-style building constructed in the early 20thcentury and the development is expected to reach practical completion by November.

It is located within the Anchorage Road Conservation Area and will be split into five two-bedroom and seven one-bedroom apartments over four floors.

The development is being delivered by Birmingham-based business partners Kevin Patrick Sharkey, director of Key Land Capital PLC, and Nick Sellman, chief executive of Urban Village.

“The Old Art School really is a wonderful building and we will be retaining as much of the original character as possible,” said Patrick. “It’s a real privilege to be able to bring life back to this historic building which has been vacant for some time.

“The development is an exciting project which will create 12 luxurious apartments in a fantastic location, walking distance from the train station and town centre.”

The two businessmen have identified Sutton Coldfield as a key location in their investment and development strategy and are currently working together on the town’s £15m Knights House office-to-residential conversion.
