Mercure Hotel opens in Telford

Hospitality group Accor has announced the opening of the Mercure hotel in Telford.

The hotel previously operated under the Park Inn brand but is currently being redesigned and refurbished.

Mercure Telford Centre Hotel, located in Forge Gate, is owned by Danish real estate group Proark and managed by Mercure.

Half of the bedrooms have already been refurbished and the remaining bedrooms and public spaces will be complete by the end of October.

The hotel has 153 guest rooms, restaurant, bars and meeting rooms.

Jean-Marc Vendioux, senior vice president managed hotels UKI, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Proark on this new hotel in Telford and are proud to brand it as a Mercure. Guests can already expect an incredibly high level of quality and personalised service, as they would receive in any Mercure, and this will be elevated by the look and feel of a hotel rooted in its local Telford community once the refurbishment is complete later this year.”

Michael Brag, chairman of Proark, added: “We have worked closely with Accor since signing this hotel and are extremely pleased with the ongoing work being done to redesign and refurbish it. The hotel has the Mercure service and features guests expect but it will also offer local touches specific to Telford, which we are confident will be well received by business and leisure travellers alike.”
