Grade II-listed Ironbridge Gorge cottage set for auction
A cottage tucked away in one the most important locations in Britain’s industrial revolution is going under the hammer at auction next month.
The Grade II-listed property at 21 Darby Road in the village of Coalbrookdale lies in the Ironbridge Gorge near Telford, a settlement of great significance in the history of iron ore smelting.
The three-bedroomed, semi-detached residence has a guide price of £44,000 to £49,000 which reflects its need for refurbishment.
Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe Auctions, said: “This historic cottage obviously needs some care and attention, but it could easily become a great place to live.
“Rare properties like this can sometimes grab the attention of the market, and we’re expecting strong attention from bidders on the day driven by what is a bargain guide price.”
The cottage is just one of 164 lots that will be offered on 11 December.
