Former Pizza Hut site snapped up for development

Godwin Developments has purchased a former Pizza Hut site in Stoke-on-Trent, with the aim of developing the site for roadside retail use.

The company said it hopes that the scheme on Baths Road, Longton will create jobs locally and reinvigorate the former site with a convenient place to pass through while shopping nearby, or en-route to the town centre, or while travelling to Longton train station.

The site has been vacant since the former occupiers Pizza Hut closed the business in September 2019, when local jobs were also lost.

Stuart Pratt, group development director at Godwin, said: “We are delighted to announce another acquisition of a roadside development site. The site benefits from a great location along-side a very busy road, providing the perfect spot for our proposed use. In particular, I am pleased with the speed in which we have completed this site purchase. The ability to act quickly benefits both landowners and occupiers to allow them certainty on the deal progressing.”

Jonathan Jones, surveyor in the retail and leisure Group at Rapleys, said: “I am delighted to have identified and acquired this prominent site on behalf of Godwin which has clear potential for drive thru / quick service restaurant uses. Early conversations have indicated there is strong demand for this out of town location and as such I am looking forward to promoting the site when it goes live.”
