DHL and Amethyst open new distribution hubs

GLOBAL distribution firm DHL has opened a new warehouse operation in Staffordshire after signing a logistics contract with JCB.
The Uttoxeter-based excavator manufacturer has recruited DHL to distribute parts on its behalf from a new 142,184 sq ft base at Fradley Park, in Lichfield.
DHL has signed a five-year lease at £4.50 per sq ft on the ‘Hawk’ building which was formerly used by Caterpillar Logistics.
In addition, Kent-based Amethyst Group, a warehousing and distribution specialist, has expanded its operations at Fradley with a new 102,174 sq ft unit alongside its existing 111,300 sq ft base.
It has also signed up for five years on the ‘Falcon’ unit at an undisclosed rent.
The park is owned by F&C Real Estate Investment Trust which was represented by the Birmingham office of GVA, Lichfield-based consultancy Kingston and CBRE.
Amethyst property manager Geoff Haffenden said: “Building on the success that we have seen in recent years in internet fulfilment, this was the right time for us to open a second distribution centre at Fradley Park.
“The Park provides us with an outstanding location at the heart of the UK and it is a great place to base our operations from.”
