A battery power specialist with access to supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE) says the Government has ignored its offer of help.

AceOn Group, based at Stafford Park 12 in Telford, said it has not heard from the government despite telling them their supplier in China can provide PPE within days.

The company said it first contacted officials three weeks ago offering to supply 3D printed parts for ventilators and masks, which it was able to manufacture itself.

With no response, AceOn said it contacted them again three days ago offering to contact its supplier in China which also produces PPE.

Speaking to TheBusinessDesk.com, Alex Thompson, of AceOn Group, said: “We did actually finally receive an automated email today, but you can’t reply to it so we are no further forward.

“After posting our offer of help on social media, we have now heard from a few hospital trusts and care homes, but not the main NHS or government officials.

“The more exposure we get the better, it will help raise awareness of the equipment we can offer and to get people who really need the equipment to come to us and find out what we can do for them.”

Thompson also criticised the UK supply chain.

“There is too much red tape”, he said. “The process is too slow and runs the risk of other countries snapping up all the PPE, that is a concern.”

A government spokesperson said: “We are incredibly grateful for over 8,000 offers of support from suppliers as part of the national effort to ensure that appropriate PPE is reaching the frontline.

“We are working rapidly to get through these offers, ensuring they meet the safety and quality standards that our NHS and social care workers need, and prioritising offers of larger volumes.”
