Pub’s licence revoked for breaking lockdown rules

A Wolverhampton pub’s licence has been revoked after it was found to be open and serving alcohol during lockdown.

The Pendulum, on Blaydon Road, was given a notice to close pending a full review after being caught by police last month.

Following the review hearing by City of Wolverhampton Council Statutory Licensing Sub-Committee, the decision was been made to revoke the license, meaning it will no longer be able to operate.

Cllr Alan Bolshaw, chair of licensing committee, said: “The council urges businesses to continue to adhere to the social distancing measures in place to protect the public.

“Having carefully considered all the evidence presented today the committee were emphatic that the behaviour displayed by this premises was totally unacceptable.

“Therefore, the decision was taken to revoke the premises license.”
