Decorating firm scoops string of military contracts

Henley-in-Arden based commercial decoration company Harvey UK has responded to a call to arms for its three latest contracts – for the Imperial War Museum, the US Air Force and the Royal Air Force.

Harvey has won a contract for the decoration and finishing of more than 30 rooms as part of a refurbishment by the Lambeth-based Imperial War Museum. The contract includes work on offices, storerooms and staff facilities.

Harvey is also carrying out specialist resin flooring work at the US air base at RAF Lakenheath, Suffolk, which is home to the USAF’s only European-based F-15 fighter wing.

The contract includes flooring in the base’s flight simulation and training facilities. Harvey is also decorating more than 180 three, four and five bedroom houses for RAF personnel and their families at Lakenheath.

In addition, Harvey has been drafted in to carry out the decoration for a museum at RAF Worthy Down in Hampshire. The work involves full decoration, specialist finishes and resin floors. Harvey has recently completed work on the main buildings on the base as part of a major refurbishment.

Harvey UK managing director Tony Harvey said the contracts had individual challenges.

“The Imperial War Museum is a complex Victorian building with very high ceilings and deep skirting boards, but it’s a pleasure to be working on such an iconic building. We are also pleased to be working on phase two of the refurbishment of RAF Worthy Down, having successfully completed phase one. The work at RAF Lakenheath involved specialist floorings and challenging sourcing specifications.”.
