Day Nursery sold in seven figure deal

A Worcestershire nursery which employs 32 people has been sold through Christie & Co off an asking price of £1.3m.

Little Oaks Day Nursery in Malvern can provide care for 99 children. Its previous owners, Christine and Simon Egerton, have ran the facility for 11 years before deciding to retire.

Simon Egerton said: “We chose to put our Nursery on the market with Jassi Sunner at Christie & Co as they offered the best terms and service. We would never have come into contact with our purchaser without their contacts. They kept in touch throughout the purchase particularly through lockdown. Jassi and the team at Christie & Co made the process comfortable.”

Jassi Sunner, associate director of childcare and education at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, said: “What a pleasure it was to work with Simon and Chris. They had reasonable and realistic expectations as well as a good working relationship with the buyer.

“Little Oaks is a fantastic day nursery and an excellent local reputation for care, with no expense spared.

“After a short marketing campaign and a range of interest, we were able to introduce the buyer to this transaction as it fit well with her existing portfolio, notably one of her settings had a whole host of similarities! This helped to make the transition and negotiations friendly and accommodating. We wish them all the best with their retirement plans, and we are confident the buyer will continue with their ethos.

“The sale was a great example of our local knowledge and ability to introduce a range of qualified and vetted buyers to a day nursery transaction. Once the sale was agreed, we managed it through to completion with regular solicitor updates and liaising with any funding enquiries. We look forward to working with the buyer again in the future.”
