Ice hockey team ties up with Coventry 2021

Coventry City of Culture Trust has formed a partnership with one of the city’s premiere sporting teams.

Ice hockey team Coventry Blaze has joined forces with the Trust to show its support for the year of events which starts in less than a month.

The partnership sees the Coventry UK City of Culture logo emblazoned on the jerseys of the players and on an ice-perimeter board during the Elite Series which is currently taking place in Nottingham. When the new 2021/22 season begins, the logo will also appear on the Skydome Arena ice in Coventry.

Laura McMillan, director of audience strategy at Coventry City of Culture Trust, said: “Sport is a very important part of Coventry culture, so we are thrilled to be working with Coventry Blaze and to have formed this new partnership.

“There are so many fantastic sports teams across the city, many of whom have pledged their support to the Trust and the City of Culture year.

“Coventry Blaze have been a key fixture within the city for many years and have a very strong following from all over Coventry.

“It is wonderful that so many teams across the city are supporting us and want to be part of this incredible time for the city.”
