Birminghams smallest indie coffee shop expands into Temple Row

The smallest independent coffee shop in Birmingham is expanding in the city to Nurton Development’s Temple Row scheme in the heart of the Central Business District.
The Coffee Bar is run by 28-year-old Al Mehmet, who returned to Birmingham from London to follow his passion for coffee after working for Microsoft for four years.
His ambition is to grow a thriving, sustainable coffee community, connecting like-minded people with workspaces, workshops and eventually cocktails too, to take them through the day.
“I’m really excited about the move to Temple Row,” said Mehmet. “We’ve already grown a strong following through social media and locally and this new coffee shop right in the heart of the city provides the perfect place to grow our fan base.
“It’s a place for coffee lovers run by enthusiasts with all the coffee sourced from micro-roasters from across the UK who use environmentally responsible methods.
“The Coffee Bar will be as much about the experience as drinking the coffee and now we have space to create added benefits too for our customers to build their loyalty and our brand.”
Located immediately adjacent to the Bull Street Metro Station, the mixed-use 4 Temple Row scheme is at the centre of Birmingham’s professional and financial core with adjacent occupiers including Barclays, KPMG and RBS.
Rupert Young development director for Nurton Developments added: “The Coffee Bar joins the list of great independents in Birmingham forging a name for themselves in the city
“And once again the retail element of 4 Temple Row location is attracting a young entrepreneur looking to create a quality experience in Birmingham and add to the range of amenities available to office workers.
“Only recently De La Crem took space to expand its business and benefit from the strong footfall in the area, which despite the pandemic has continued to remain robust for food and drink and will only increase as the city continues to open up.”
4 Temple Row has been refurbished throughout in recent years to include all the offices, communal areas with the addition of shower facilities and bike racks to cater to a growing number of people exercising during lunchtimes and running or cycling to work.
CBRE and JLL act as joint agents on the scheme.
