People: Tech firm hits team milestone; Rothley adds to senior team; and more

A fast-growing technology firm based in Solihull is celebrating after hiring its 50th member of staff following two years of growth.

Wise, founded in 2019, specialises in providing software to improve the self-employment experience and also has an office in London.

The business is celebrating this latest hire as it takes the total headcount to 50, officially making it a medium-sized business.

Hannah Jarrad, people and culture manager at Wise, said: “We’re delighted to have hit this major business milestone and to have done it in such a short space of time is genuinely outstanding. As we’ve grown the team across all departments, we’ve worked hard to make sure that we retain our culture of compassion and inclusivity that is at the heart of all of our decisions.

“Like every other business, we’ve navigated the difficult circumstances of the last couple of years carefully and we’re delighted to have been able to obtain Great Place To Work ™ status along the way as evidence of our positive culture.”

Interior accessories manufacturer Rothley is continuing its drive for commercial growth with the appointment of David Laschke as commercial director.

He has extensive experience, and recent roles include managing director at Manor Reproductions and more recently as general manager at Security Hardware (Eurocell Plc).

Stuart Hobbs, managing director of Rothley, said: “I’m delighted that David sees the same opportunity for growth at Rothley as we do.

“We have now got the fundamentals right and have cultivated strong roots, which are driving rapid growth. We are extremely fortunate to have David joining us to help lead the company through this exciting phase.”

Laschke’s appointment marks a continuous period of growth for the DIY manufacturer, which recently took over a new warehouse and office space in Wolverhampton, spreading over 56,000 sq ft enabling it to double stock levels.

A land, development, property agency and consultancy has appointed a new director as part of plans to expand its operations with a new rural property consultancy team.

Will Young joins Newton LDP with more than 20 years experience in providing rural, development and agency services to landowners and farmers across the country.

His appointment will add a new arm to the company as it expands its existing offering with additional services to farmers, land and property owners.

He joins from Fisher German.

Young said: “I am really excited about the ambition and growth prospects at Newton and look forward to getting going.

“Newton is a company which offers a diverse range of experience and expertise from a highly-respected team, which is something I absolutely wanted to be a part of.

“My involvement in property and the countryside has been nurtured from an early age, having always been involved in agriculture through the family farm on the urban fringe.

“It is this grounding and recognition of the complexity of the rural landscape – separating assets, lifestyle, and emotion, from capital and income generation – that has left me well-placed to understand those issues and most importantly to address both the opportunities and challenges they present, to the benefit of clients.”
Newton LDP is based at Stockton House in Warwickshire.
