The Birmingham office of professional services firm KPMG has announced the appointment of a new partner as well as the promotions of a further 37 staff across the Midlands.

Paul McMillan, who joined KPMG last year, has become a partner at the business’s One Snowhill office in Birmingham city centre, where he will continue his work within its Financial Services Consulting team.

He began his career in banking and went on to hold a number of senior positions in the industry, including Head of Banking Operations at Ulster Bank, CEO of mortgage lender Acenden and COO at Al Rayan Bank. He joined KPMG in 2021 from the retailer Bright House, an appointment in keeping with the firm’s continued investment in financial services.

Other promotions in Birmingham across its audit, consulting, deal advisory, and tax and legal practices include four new associate directors, 11 senior managers and 13 managers.

The firm’s Birmingham office currently employs more than 1,300 professionals, with a further 200 Midlands colleagues based in Nottingham.

Karl Edge, KPMG’s Midlands region chair and office senior partner in Birmingham, said: “Developing talent within our team remains fundamental to our success. After all, our ability to execute the very highest standards of service and expertise for our clients is fuelled by our people. This latest round of promotions acknowledges the hard work and commitment that these colleagues have made to the business, and underlines our ongoing commitment to investing in the Midlands region. I’d like to congratulate them all on taking this next step.”
