£120m development to go ahead thanks to noise mitigation fund

A formal agreement has been reached between developer BPG and the Nightingale for a noise mitigation holding fund.

BPG’s 456-home development on Gooch Street North can now go ahead whilst also safeguarding the Nightingale’s future.

£1.305m will be deposited into the fund and will likely see the removal of outdoor balconies, a new ‘acoustically treated’ smoking area, new fire exit doors and windows and new wall linings for the development.

The £120m development will house 775 people in 456 one and two-bedroom apartments across seven to 12 storeys, alongside 5,500 sq ft of commercial floor space, a private courtyard and a 7,000 sq ft garden terrace.

Twenty-six parking spaces will be constructed within the basement alongside 160 cycle parking spaces with an additional 250 on the ground floor.

It was initially thought the applicants would seal 49 units facing the pub to mitigate noise.
