Grade II listed former nursing home up for sale

A historic Grade II listed former nursing home in Redditch is up for sale with a price tag starting at £750,000.
The Cedars was originally built as a farmhouse back in the 18th century or even earlier but was remodelled in 1840 by Samuel Allcock, head of a major Redditch needle and fishing hook manufacturing firm.
It was converted to a nursing home in the middle of the last century but closed down in 2021.
Ian Tudor, joint managing director auctions at Bond Wolfe, said: “This attractive 38-bedroomed former nursing home could have a range of uses and we are expecting considerable interest from investors and developers from across the UK and abroad at our livestreamed auction event on 27 October.
“As well as its Grade II listing, the property retains a considerable number of original features, including mouldings and windows, and there is some 17th Century panelling in one room that is said to have originally come from Bordesley Abbey nearby.
“Alongside its bedrooms, communal lounges, kitchen and stores, the building is set in more than an acre of mature grounds.
“Although it could continue as a care home, potential alternative uses range from residential to religious, medical, hospitality or educational dependant on securing the appropriate planning permission.”
