City centre entertainment venue opens at former nightclub

A £3m entertainment venue on the site of a well-known Coventry nightspot has opened its doors.

More than 200 guests headed to the site of the former Pink Parrot nightclub for the official launch party of PLAYERS Entertainment, a new multi-purpose entertainment venue in the city centre.

The venue features 20 private hire rooms for any occasion, with its largest room accommodating up to 45 people which can be extended to 80 people via connecting rooms.

Guests gathered in the E-Lounge, which includes a bar and space for 500 people.

Jonathan Owusu, general manager at PLAYERS Entertainment, thanked guests for attending the long-awaited opening, which had been delayed by more than a year due to Covid-19 restrictions.

He said: “We’ve waited a long time to fully open this venue to the public, and it is great to be able to show off our venue to so many people.

“We are here to bring something new to the people of Coventry, which is an amazing city, and bring people together to make lasting memories with incredible nights here.

“I’d like to thank everyone who joined us for our full launch, and look forward to welcoming them back in the weeks, months and years to come.”

Coventry City Cllr Jim O’Boyle cabinet member for jobs, regeneration and climate change, said: “I was delighted to be invited along to celebrate the launch of the newly refurbished PLAYERS Entertainment. It was a real pleasure to see what has been done here and wonderful to see our leisure and nightlife sector flourishing.

“Our pubs, restaurants, cafes and entertainment venues are crucial to the life of our city and this venue is a great addition.”
