Sixty tech jobs are set to be created through a partnership between tech training and placement provider TechTalent and IT services platform Version 1.

Working through a joint Digital Skills Academy scheme, which is backed by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA)’s adult education budget, Version 1 and TechTalent will upskill and train individuals from across the West Midlands region.

More than £200,000 has been made available to support the scheme, which will deliver 60 guaranteed jobs with Version 1 for students who successfully complete a course with the Academy.

Students will be able to learn essential soft skills such as teamwork all the way to technically specialising, receiving accreditation from Version 1’s Technology Partners

During the 12-week training programme, TechTalent will be working as Version 1’s official training partner to provide students with access to a career in technology. It will use it’s Attract, Train, and Deploy model to connect organisations with tech specialists through a scalable hiring solution for companies looking to access experienced tech talent.

Janice Rae, TechTalent CEO and founder, said: “Following the hugely successful Birmingham Tech Week, we’re looking forward to reaffirming our commitment to the West Midlands tech scene with the support of Version 1 and the WMCA as part of this valuable initiative.

“Those who successfully complete training with the Digital Skills Academy will guarantee themselves a role with Version 1. It really is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in a career in tech to get a foothold in the industry and benefit from industry-leading training at the same time.”

Daragh McCormack, cloud platform practice lead at Version 1, said: “As a business, we continue to invest heavily in the West Midlands and are excited to have teamed up with West Midlands Combined Authority and TechTalent to provide job opportunities in technology.

“Version 1 is growing at a fast pace and as part of its growth strategy, the team is keen to bring the top talent from diverse backgrounds in this region on the inspiring journey we are undertaking”.
