Sustainable scheme ramps up construction pace

A new development is reaching its final stages at Prologis Park Midpoint, in Birmingham.

Under construction by Readie Construction, the 163,754 sq ft, Grade A unit has seen steel frames completed on site ahead of the schemes projected completion in June this year.

The new development will build on the park’s 1.6m sq ft offering and aims to help meet the UK’s demand for logistics facilities.

The unit named DC6 is targeting a BREEAM Excellent and EPC A+ rating, in line with Prologis’ target to be net zero in operations by 2025 and facilitate its customer’s sustainability goals.

DC6 features a 278kWp solar PV roof array alongside scalable EV charging infrastructure with future electrification in mind.

Out of its 28 logistics parks in the UK, seven are situated in the West Midlands. Prologis Park Midpoint is already home to Jaguar Land Rover, Europa Worldwide and Kuehne + Nagel.

James Hemstock, capital deployment and leasing director at Prologis UK, said: “As we look forward to DC6’s practical completion in Q2, we’re keen to welcome a new customer on site in our latest facility. We have had excellent interest in the unit so far, which proves the strength of the location, building quality, and continued demand for space in prime areas.

“Despite there being a wider lack of space being delivered in the Birmingham area this year, we’re proud to be one of the developers investing heavily in the West Midlands market. Prologis Park Midpoint has always been popular with businesses looking to base distribution headquarters and hubs in the area and this latest development shows our commitment not only to the area, but also to providing first-class facilities for our customers.”
