Former Aartee Bright Bar site snapped up by Mercia

Mercia Real Estate has acquired a 100-year-old Dudley rolling mill site, after the previous owners went into administration.

The former Aartee Bright Bar site sits on ten acres with buildings extending to 110,000 sq ft.

Aartee Bright Bar went into administration in February, but a £13m deal by Barrett Steel saved all but its Dudley operations.

Its Hot Rolled business was wound up, leading to 45 redundancies and the closure of the site.

The acquisition, located off of Pear Tree Lane, forms part of Mercia’s UK development programme of industrial sites and builds on its West Midlands industrial portfolio.

The proposal is to demolish existing buildings, retaining the 28,021 sq ft high bay warehouse and 2,712 sq ft office block. Planning will be submitted shortly.

Nearby occupiers include Jewson, Travis Perkins, Screwfix, SIG and SSE pipe fittings.
